We havenât seen Team Cavedweller since the other day. Our own group has been talking with one another about the logistics of moving shop now that weâre set up in this house. Mostly, weâre all okay with the idea of relocating, and there are some pretty sizeable farms between here and there that would be solid choices to set up at, at least based on what weâve seen in casual drives by. The issue we seem to be hung up on is when would we do it, and what do we need to do in the meantime to make sure this is the right decision?
Thereâs some trepidation coming from Mike and Joel about moving closer and become more tied into these people: both of them are excited, and concerned at the same time to be closer to a large group that will inevitably need medical care from them. Itâs likely theyâll be pulled in a hundred times to address a thousand ailments, and thatâs a lot to ask of them. As oathsworn healers, and good people, theyâre gonna do it no matter what, and theyâll love doing it, but still... thatâs a lot to ask. The burden of the medically skilled survivor in this world is substantial. So much responsibility, and so few supplies and resources to bring to bear.
I donât think thereâs any way we can dodge that though. I believe they have medical personnel there already. They brought up that they had plenty of medical supplies, and with the presence of local police, I would guess they had firefighters too, and that means EMTs. Maybe. First responders took this apocalypse right in the asshole dry as a desert early on, so maybe they donât have any of those. But, it stands to reason with their lack of reports of internal demises, and in a cluster of communities of this size, they have at least some kind of medical staff.
Mikeâs stated fears aside, Rachel is being sweet though. She says over and over that they need us closer because we can protect them, and sheâs right. Weâre good at protecting ourselves, and other people. Iâm not sure they need our protecting (cue white American saviors showing up to save the world, complete with muscle-clad montage music) but the sentiment is nice. I should also clarify that âprotecting,â is a 100% synonym for, âvisiting wrath and destruction,â in our world. Sheâs such a good shit. Like Iâve said a bunch of times, sheâs good people. I think she âmarried up,â meeting Mike, but itâs like the hooker with a heart of gold thing. She may have come from trouble, or a bad area or sketchy past, but fundamentally she has a good soul. Iâm glad sheâs with us. Even if she gives Hal the fucking creeps. It is what it is.
If any hookers read this after Iâm dead, Iâm sure many of you have hearts of gold.
Anyway, weâre gonna scope out some potential places to move in the
